From his arrival in 1972, he describes his work in Urban Affairs and his three books, Afro-Americans in Pittsburgh: the Residential Segregation of a People,Detroit Race Riots: Racial Conflict, an Effort to Bridge Racial Divide, and Detroit after Bankruptcy. Also, he analyzes social issues from a historical and contemporary standpoint.

She recounts her time in various MSU organizations, such as Women in Engineering the National Society for Black Engineers, and My Sister's Keeper. Also, she discusses her website, OurMECA (Minority Experiences in Colorless Atmospheres). Through the website she hopes to sustain a network for minorities in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) to mentor, connect, and learn from one another.
